Copenhagen Youth Mobilize 500 Shops in Scientology-Backed Substance Awareness Campaign

Children from the Truth About Drugs initiative in Denmark have mobilized in the city of Copenhagen to distribute factual drug education materials across 500 shops. Their outreach, sponsored in part by the Church of Scientology, marks a new wave to raise awareness about drug risks among youth.

Over the course of 2025, volunteers aged 10 to 20 approached local retailers to ask them to carry copies of *The Truth About Drugs* booklet. The materials — produced by the Foundation for a Drug-Free World — offer evidence-based information on the dangers of drug use, including hashish, binge drinking, and synthetic substances.

“These kids are stepping up,” said Giulia, a public affairs coordinator. “It’s impressive to see such commitment from children.”

Recent statistics support the urgency of their mission. A new report by the Danish Drug Research Center revealed that cannabis use among 15–25-year-olds has fallen from 44% in 2014 eu newsletter to 31.6% in 2025. Among male youth, use dropped from 51 percent to 34 percent.

According to analysts quoted in a recent government health report, this change is partly due to public awareness and a decline in willingness to take risks.
